Museum Making

For my master’s thesis in Comparative Media Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, I have been investigating an emerging trend: over the last few years, art museums have begun to invite audiences—from casual visitors to professional artists and technologists—to take the reins of creative production through experimentation with new technologies. Case studies include the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Art + Technology Lab, the Peabody Essex Museum’s Maker Lounge, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Media Lab.
